This is an excerpt of a letter I sent to Mr. Geoffrey Fieger, Macomb Daily, WXYZ, WDIV, and Fox2 Detroit showing that Michigan's health care policies being closed are contributing to the steady increasing divide between Michigan and it's people. This is a very true account from my own attempts to receive health care that is being denied due to Michigan's economy. I as many others have life-threatening issues that are ignored by government.
MICHIGAN REFUSING MEDICAL HELP TO RESIDENTS
"Mr. Fieger, I presently have a work injury claim that I feel is being mishandled; I haven't even been asked to take any physical to back my claim. I was injured at a jobsite last July; The case was disputed by Workman's Comp insurance company in December and my medical coverage was dropped this past February. I fully agree with how the government denies people like me because I have applied for even temporary disability benefits and Medicaid and been refused due to "closed enrollment." I have chronic back pain now and have Hep C liver problems that I am told by my doctor need to be addressed. MY PCR counts are supposed to average 50, but at a recent blood work test show a level of 13,500 which is well above the average and indicates abnormal liver activities. I was hoping that some type of case could be brought against the State of Michigan or responsible parties because the liver problem is life-threatening and requires medical attention that the state should be providing. Since being injured last July, we have had to sell personal belongings and live off of my girlfriends SSD of $623 a month plus food stamps. I have been a tax-paying hard-working American but I feel the system has turned it's back on me & I feel that you, Mr. Fieger, are my last chance to do my comp case, SSD case, and possibly take action against State of Michigan to insure that the many other people in this state in similar situations are better able to receive the help their taxes paid for. I am extremely worried about my liver problem escalating to a point where I can't survive. I have all medical documentation to support these problems and have all applicable paperwork from Comp insurance and refused applications to State. Please help me to survive this and show Michigan that there are those who's need is very real." The State seems to be thriving from Lotteries and taxes paid by all Michiganders but has turned their back on the needy and is denying the very people that once supported this state as hard-working tax-paying Americans. I believe it is time for the State of Michigan to become accountable and give people like myself and so many others the opporotunity to receive medical care for life-threatening illnesses.
